Karthik is the Founder & Managing Director at Tern. A serial entrepreneur with a track record of growing software businesses, Karthik has over 15 years of experience working with complex and mission-critical B2B software businesses. Prior to starting Tern, he advised blue-chip clients on profitable growth at Bain & Company and held operational roles at GE's industrial and capital businesses across three continents. Karthik holds an MBA from INSEAD and a Computer Science degree from the University of Hong Kong.
Mark Thompson
Board Member & Operating Partner
Mark has 20+ years of experience growing software businesses selling into the NHS and other public sector verticals. He was previously a Group Managing Director at Advanced Business Solutions, CEO of COA Solutions and CEO of m-hance. Mark scaled both COA and m-hance organically and through acquisitions — at COA he acquired and integrated 9 businesses (3,200 customers) before a successful sale to Advanced Computer Group; at m-hance he made 4 acquisitions and tripled sales before exit.
Tom Llewellyn-Lloyd
Principal
Tom is an experienced finance and investment professional with 10+ years across audit, private equity and deals advisory, and a qualified chartered accountant with 7+ years managing FTSE 100 and privately-owned financial services clients. Most recently a deal adviser at PwC focused on operational improvements for complex carve-out and integration projects. Tom leads execution of new investments at Tern and operational improvements across the portfolio.
Stuart Pittaway
Chief Technology Officer
Stuart has over 25 years of experience architecting, designing and implementing public and private cloud (AWS and Azure) — including building cloud infrastructure from scratch for Charter Court Financial Services (now part of OneSavings Bank). Within DevOps his expertise spans microservices architecture, TOGAF and composable (MACH) architectures. He brings deep coding experience across JavaScript, Python, .NET, C#, .NET Core, C++, ASP.NET and SQL Server.
Simon Corson
Origination & Execution
Simon is a corporate finance professional with a background in accounting, market analysis, and both buy-side and sell-side consultancy. His experience includes working with institutional investors, C-suite executives and analysts to identify high-value opportunities and support strategic decision-making, with particular insight into FinTech software businesses. At Tern, Simon leads the origination and execution of off-market transactions.
James Hang
Deal Execution Associate
James is an ACA-qualified Chartered Accountant with over three years of experience in external auditing. Prior to Tern, he was a Senior Audit Analyst at Deloitte, leading complex engagements across a portfolio of 30 clients including CAC 40 French companies, applying a rigorous risk-based methodology to UK GAAP and IFRS reporting. At Tern, James focuses on deal screening, initial due diligence and deal origination.
Nesan Pather
AI & Marketing Lead
Nesan leads AI and marketing at Tern. He has 20 years of experience across marketing, AI transformation and commercial growth, most recently as Chief Marketing Officer of decarb.earth and previously leading digital growth at TymeBank for Business and digital, CRM and ecommerce for Sumitomo Rubber (Dunlop, Falken) across Sub-Saharan Africa. He holds nanodegrees in Agentic AI Engineering and AI Product Management from Udacity and guest-lectures on AI and digital strategy.
